VRT keeps a close eye on bus performance, including ridership trends, on-time performance, and community growth. We also work closely with riders, funding partners, and local stakeholders to update bus routes and schedules to help the transit network stay connected and responsive across the region.
Each year, we plan to roll out any major changes on what we like to call Change Day, our annual chance to refresh and improve service. Change Day is scheduled for the second Monday in June, with additional tweaks made in February or August if necessary. These updates are designed to fine‑tune routes based on rider feedback and real‑world performance.
Change Day 2026: Monday, June 8
Starting Monday, June 8, VRT began using the electric chargers at Main Street Station, and most routes are underground at the Lower Deck.

Routes 8, 10, and 40 serve at the Upper Deck. Due to construction, these routes are temporarily located at 9th & Main.
Routes 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 16, 17, and 29 serve at the Lower Deck.
On June 8, 2026, we updated schedules and timepoints to improve on‑time performance and make transfers easier. We also trimmed a few low‑ridership trips and closing bus stops that are close together to keep buses moving smoothly.
